The Timelessness of Christ Empty
PostSubject: The Timelessness of Christ   The Timelessness of Christ EmptySat Aug 24, 2013 6:38 pm

In Revelation 1.4. What is meant by , "who was, is and will come"? That tells me that all things are fulfilled in Christ from creation to the end of the age and through all eternity.

We know from John 1 that Christ was there in the beginning at creation. From Hebrews 1.1&2, that Christ was in the last days of the Old Covenant. And we know from Isaiah 9.7 and Luke 1.33 that of his reign and his kingdom the will be no end. So, whatever event of prophecy, it is already fulfilled in Christ regardless of the time, because Christ is timeless.

Ecclesiastes 3.17 states, "That which is has already been, And what is to be has already been; And God requires an account of what is past." - NKJV, biblegateway.com

This goes along with his statement that there is nothing new under the sun. However, there some events under the sun that never happened before and will never be repeated. The physical birth, life, death, burial, resurrection and ascension of Christ. And yet, the effectiveness of what Christ did in the flesh is timeless.

We squabble over past this, and future that, when we could all possibly be wrong. Think about it. Because of the timelessness of Christ, it is even probable that what was fulfilled, is being fulfilled, and will be fulfilled. All we need to is accept by faith that all things are fulfilled in Christ regardless of timing.

This is why it is difficult for us to understand Bible prophecy, because fulfillment is likely outside of the way we understand time. Our understanding, when it come to time is limited. So we cannot not understand the eternity in which all things take place. Therefore, we, as limited as we are, should just accept these things by faith. By doing so we come to unity in regard to these matters, and accept that God has and will accomplish all things in His timing, which we cannot fathom.
